5 Minutes With Archana Singh of TravelSeeWrite

For McCool Travel’s 169th travel interview, I am pleased to present Archana Singh of TravelSeeWrite. If you skip the words on this page—please do not, or do so and come back—the first thing you notice in Archana’s pictures is likely the same thing I did when meeting her. She always smiles. How can you not love that? Archana is a prominent personality on the travel influencer circuit but of all the cool travel peeps I have met over the years, Archana Singh might be the happiest.
Archana Singh’s bio: “A Brand Management Expert by profession and a Travel Journalist by passion, Archana Singh loves to explore offbeat places in search of untold human stories.”

A FAVORITE TRAVEL MEMORY …
Last year I was on a solo trip to the US. Before landing in States, I was warned about an increase in racist attacks. However, statistics paint a different picture. The truth is, 99 percent of the 300-plus million Americans peacefully coexist with members of all races day in and day out. Here’s my first-hand experience:
I was on a TBEX FAM Trip to Birmingham in Alabama, a place where civil rights movement began. Although, the city had a painful past, it has moved on. During my trip, I experienced something worth—we were on a city tour when my Afro-American historian tour guide Barry McNealy complimented my white host Pamela McDonald on her charm bracelet and told her how his wife wanted a similar one. Without wasting a second, Pamela gifted him the bracelet as a gift for his wife. My guide’s heart swelled up and he had tears of happiness. Seeing this unfold in front of my eyes, I couldn’t help but be touched with this gesture of kindness. For every bad incident, there are many good incidents like these, which are not shared as much as bad news. Thank god Goodness is still alive!

3 WAYS THAT I HAVE FUN WHILE TRAVELING …

  1. Embracing the locals: Interacting with locals when traveling to offbeat places in search of untold human stories. Most of my best stories saw the day of the light because I took an initiative to strike a conversation with a stranger
  2. Getting lost: I have a special skill of getting lost even when I am equipped with maps and guides. However, those lost moments became my most memorable moments.
  3. Going off the grid: I am more of an impulsive traveller, who doesn’t think twice before going off the track. My most satisfying and fun moments have happened because of being adventurous enough to say yes to the unknown and unexplored.

FAVORITE CHEAP EAT …

RECENT DISCOVERY …
Recently, I spoke at a Photo Tourism conference in India where renowned and highly experienced Photographers and Travel professionals were speaking. In front of them, I was a toddler but I spoke from my heart and boy what a fantastic reception I got. Everyone loved my presentation so much that after the speech, many people came over to get a selfie with me. Even today, many of them are in contact.
So, the bottom-line is if you know your strengths and believe in yourself no stage is scary.
I AM FORTUNATE TO HAVE MET …
So many people like Shane Dallas, Rick Calvert, Daniel Levine, Ryan Gazder, Mihaela Popa, Nikki and Dusty Green, David Nuttal, Michael Collins, Jeannette Ceja, Charles McCool (seriously), and many more.
I WOULD LIKE TO MEET …
People who have interesting and inspiring stories to share.
Oh yes, and Justin Trudeau 😛
