5 Minutes With Have Sippy Will Travel: Samantha Feuss

For McCool Travel’s 162nd travel interview, I am pleased to introduce my audience to Samantha Feuss from Have Sippy Will Travel. Her Twitter feed recently caught my eye as she publishes compelling travel content. She graciously took time to share the below travel thoughts and expertise.
Have Sippy Will Travel‘s bio: “Samantha Feuss, owner of Have Sippy Will Travel, speaks several foreign languages and has extensive travel experience. She is the social media manager and/or brand ambassador for several companies, including National Geographic and the Bronx Zoo. Samantha has dedicated her life to children and education. She feels that travel and culture should play an important part in a child’s development and exposure to their environment.”

HOMETOWN …
I’m a Jersey girl, born and bred.
ALWAYS IN MY LUGGAGE …
I’d go with chargers. And travel cubes—those are sanity saving. Since my son travels with me, I’d also say his stuffed animal.
3 FAVORITE HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME PLACES …
That’s harder. I don’t think I can honestly answer that, my favorite place is always the next one I’m going, LOL. A few contenders—I honestly love Ohio. Everyone makes fun of me for that, but I do! It has all this unexpected amazing. I really enjoyed Wales, Philly is ALWAYS a favorite, though my son is voting hard core for the Dominican Republic.
A FAVORITE TRAVEL MEMORY …
My son eating all the seaweed off the floor of the Bay of Fundy as is receded to low tide would be amusing, he was such a nut. Once, in Hocking Hills, Ohio, a portable (giant) telescope was brought out to the cabins we were staying at, and we got to watch shooting stars, see nebulas, have in depth explanations of the constellations above, and more. It was below freezing, and everyone was wrapped in blankets and drinking this amazing hot chocolate in pitch black darkness—it was just magical. I’ll never forget that.
3 FAVORITE TRAVEL BRANDS …
Travel Cube. Kinderglo. Eagle Creek. IceBug. Fig Bars (lol, TOTALLY counts!). Craghoppers.
3 MONEY-SAVING TRAVEL TACTICS I USE …
Don’t be stupid. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be stupid.
3 WAYS THAT I HAVE FUN WHILE TRAVELING …

  1. Go with the flow.
  2. Embrace the experience.
  3. Try new things.
  4. Don’t whine. (OK, that’s 4, and for kids mostly, ha.)

8 WORD (OR LESS) TRAVEL MANTRA …
Just go with it.”

FAVORITE NON-TRAVEL WEBSITE …
It totally depends on what I’m wanting to do at that moment—too loaded a question. I’m a hippie, so I skew that way, however.
MOST MEMORABLE SOUVENIR  …
Teddy, our monster dog that we found when lost in the Catskills. LOL. Object wise? A really bizarre cat napkin holder that John HAD to have, then scared him all the way home. Yep.
FAVORITE CHEAP EAT …
Soup, easy.
RECENT DISCOVERY …
Um…..I hate knitting. Like, HATE. Does that count? LOL. Also, it turns out I really love bizarre antique-type curiosity stores, ha.
I AM FORTUNATE TO HAVE MET …
I’ve actually met some of my best friends traveling. I’m lucky like that.
I WOULD LIKE TO MEET …
Bernie Sanders
