Hometown…
Hey there! I’m originally from Boston, but I left almost exactly five years ago [ed. interview responses are from late March 2015] to travel and explore the world. Now that my family is more spread out all over the place, I don’t visit Boston nearly as much as I probably should—I love it there.
Always in my luggage…
This is a tough one! I don’t actually travel with very much stuff, to be honest (want to know what’s in my bag? I’m a pretty simple and straightforward kind of traveler. My iPhone has been my saving grace on more than one occasion, and it’s become an absolutely essential tool for me. I get lost more than I like to admit, so Google Maps holds a very special place in my heart.

A favorite travel memory is…
One!? Just one!? What a crazy request 😉 Just yesterday I hiked to the top of the Pichincha Volcano in Ecuador and I can guarantee you that it’s going to remain in my list of favorites for the rest of my life. It was a grueling hike (rock climbing and all) through hail, wind, fog, sleet, and snow, but the views from 15,000 feet were so breathtaking I literally shed a tear.

3 money-saving travel tactics I use are…
- Being insanely flexible with my flight dates, and always browsing for flights in incognito mode.
- Use the Charles Schwab High Yield Checking account to avoid paying ATM fees anywhere in the world.
- Work in hostels for free accommodation. You’ll have to stay for a few weeks, but if you’ve got an open schedule, there’s no reason not to!
3 ways that I have fun while traveling are…
