A line of customers out the front door and this homey sign inside

greeted me at Ace Biscuit & Barbecue on a sunny Saturday last month in gorgeous Charlottesville, Virginia.
It was only 11am and I planned on a small sausage biscuit (based on Yelp reviews) before some scenic drives. While waiting to order, I saw that the biscuits were huge. I changed tactics and ordered a spare rib platter.

Brontosaurus ribs, I call this style. I opted for sides of collard greens and hash browns, because the friendly order taker mentioned a free drink with 2 sides, I felt the need for a veggie, and, well, I cannot resist hash browns. Everything tasted amazing, even the limeade.
I also changed tactics in my schedule and decided a hike would be better than a drive. I found a lovely picnic spot.

Afterwards I managed a 3 mile walk along the Rivanna Trail.

I would love to revisit Ace and try some other menu items.
