Better Vacation Experience
Compared to public transport, an Auto Europe car rental allowed us to see more of Ireland and Northern Ireland. I drove on small roads that buses do not dare go on—the Torr Scenic Drive off of the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland is magnificent!
We visited castles, Game of Thrones locations, and the McCool ancestral homeland from the 1660s. We used pull outs when oncoming vehicles could not get by, zoomed by countless hedgerows (me humming Stairway to Heaven like all the time), and waited patiently until sheep crossed tiny, curvy roads. Rush hour in Ireland has a different meaning than in the US.
Surprises
So, not all of the following happens for every Auto Europe car rental but several surprises delighted me.
First, my reservation upgraded from manual to automatic transmission at no extra charge. I prepared myself to drive a stick shift but the automatic transmission meant one less thing to worry about.
Second, Auto Europe made my reservation with Hertz, one of my preferred car rental companies.
Third, my Auto Europe car rental included zero liability insurance. On prior vehicle rentals in Ireland, insurance was a hassle so this was wonderful feature. At pick up, the agent said the insurance covers everything except tires.
Finally, fourth, the checkin agent upgraded our vehicle class. I waited a few extra minutes for the vehicle to clear the car wash.

NOTE: The agent offered an upgrade to SUV for a small extra fee, which I considered. Then I remembered previously driving around Ireland and how tight the roads are. Reserve a vehicle large enough for your crew and stuff, but not too large.
