For McCool Travel’s 163rd travel interview, I am pleased to present Anna Faustino from Adventure in You. I had the epic opportunity to ...
The 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT is a fun, affordable hatchback with more than ample interior space and storage. Entering its second generation with the 2018 model, the Hyundai Elantra GT’s redesigned interior detailing is elegant and useful. The car is fun to drive, comfortable, and is much different than its cousin, the Hyundai Elantra sedan.
Other online sources cover performance statistics and other deep analysis. I focus on some fun features, especially that will appeal to road trip travelers.
DriveShop loaned me a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT for a seven day test drive, in order to familiarize myself with the vehicle and share my thoughts with the McCool Travel audience. I was not otherwise compensated and this content represents my thoughts about the vehicle.

The Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback design is based on a European model (Hyundai i30), inviting comparisons to Volkswagen Golf GTI and similar vehicles. It is in fact manufactured at the Hyundai Europe facility, while Hyundai Elantra sedans are built in South Korea.

Door Lock Button
It is a minor annoyance trying to find the lock button on the door on most vehicles. It is especially annoying at night—I either accidentally trigger a window button or have to turn on an interior light. So, I love how the Hyundai designers and engineers placed the lock button on the center console dash. So clever and convenient. Watch this video for a quick sample demo.
Every vehicle has station presets, I know. I absolutely love that the audio system on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT allows me to set 40 favorites. Yes, 40! So great for my limited audio attention span. Although I do not show it, I set FM and SiriusXM stations on the same screen. That makes this feature even cooler, that I do not have to switch modes (between FM and SiriusXM) in order to change channels.

Another fun audio feature in the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT is the mute button on the steering column. OK, many vehicles have a separate mute button but the clever Hyundai engineers incorporated the mute button into the volume control. The mute feature activates when pressing the volume button. Cool. Yes, at first you will accidentally mute the radio sound instead of increasing or decreasing the volume. You will quickly get the hang of it and love this feature. Every 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT (in fact, every new Hyundai vehicle) sold helps fighting childhood cancer, through the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program. While this is not a fun feature by any means, it is a cool initiative by Hyundai and makes me respect the company more.
