A few days ago, I read and commented on a blog post about driving to Key West. That post included a picture of a manatee mailbox.
I cannot find that blog post but it reminded me of my own Florida Keys scenic drives and pictures I have taken of manatee mailboxes.

The above picture, of course, was taken around Halloween. Think the postal delivery person was scared?

The above picture is the same manatee mailbox around Easter. The hat is a great disguise.

The above three photos were taken of the same manatee mailbox in the Florida Keys, on Upper Matecumbe Key near Islamorada. I love seeing this manatee mailbox and others on Florida road trips.
If you are interested in swimming with manatees, read all about it >>> Fun Things to Do in Crystal River
Even though I have seen dozens, perhaps hundreds, of manatee mailboxes, these are the only photos I have found in my library. I will remember to taker more manatee mailbox photos on future trips to Florida and the US Gulf Coast.

As you can imagine, Florida has many other species in the kitschy mailbox category. I have seen alligators, flamingoes, sea turtles, pelicans, and horses. Probably others I cannot remember at the moment.
What are some cool, happy, and fun mailboxes you have seen?
The manatee mailboxes are FULL of METAL SHAVINGS and they actually rust thru! We bought 3 of them at different times! PURE waste of money! DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BUY!!!!
That seems weird that you bought three different ones and they were all defective. I show several different models. Which one did you buy three of?
Charles, There is a John Deer tractor mail box on the way to Aldie, VA on Rt 50…may not be the strangest – but it is quite iconic for that part of the world.
